Norie is SiCi's last foal and of exceptional breeding. SiCi is a 1983 OTTB/Event Mare from the Stop
the Music/Hail to Reason line (NO Dancer). She finished racing sound and spent the better part of a
decade successfully eventing. She floats! SiCi had three very correct foals for Jessica Brunning before we
found her and added her to Avelene's Program. Norie was bred for performance. He is very balanced as a
foal with very good conformation. He has a sweeping back and a powerful shorter neck. His shoulder is
graceful and hip generous creating consuming gaits. He is very friendly with an even and generous
temperament. We see McDuff in his color, substance, and collection. His ability to canter play with Kya is
not an attribute he got from his Dam! Very Exciting! This is a unique halfbred cross and a horse that will be
alone in pedigree. Norie is sure to make an exceptional mount for a highly competitive hunter, eventer, or even
jumper maturing to 16.2 or 16.3h. Norie is offered in 2007 only at $3,500 as a weanling.

McDuff did just as well for us with our filly as he did on the colt! Kya and Norie are carbon copies of
each other down to the sock! As a warmblood cross, Kya has a more compact solid build up against
Norie's sveltness. She is nicely balanced with exceptional conformation and bone. She, like Norie,
is likely to reach 16h. Kya does not have the ground covering movement of Norie but instead has
power, suspension, and more uphill nature. Her disposition is a nice roll of solid warmblood
temperament in a connemara brain. She is more inquisitive than thoughtful (as Norie) and gets herself
in trouble often. She is our comic relief at the end of the day. Although Kya is likely to sell herself,
we are contemplating retaining her for our breeding program. Circumstances may offer her at Private
Treaty to the right situation.
This mare started it all! Kaleigh was our first Connemara Experience. She came to our program in late
2002 looking for a job. Kaleigh is a full sister to CKC Katie who is successfully eventing out of Lyme,
CT with a Pony Clubber. Fortunately for all, this mare fell in love with Kathleen and the intensity of
distance riding. Kaleigh has proven her ability as a limited distance horse and will move on to be a tough
100 mile competitor! The Hideaway line has made consistent competitors for Kathleen.
Baylee is a 3/4 bred Connemara. This cross of Hideaway back to Greystone is not for the faint of heart!
Baylee is pure athleticism! She has exceptional bone with a never say die motivation. She is a farm favorite with
her "first to the gate" demeanor. Baylee's disposition is generous and very steady. We hope to reproduce this
but for now we are running with it! Our plans are to skip the ring and introduce her directly to the sport of
distance riding. She will start this 2007 season in limited distance with long distance in the near future.
We chose to expand our breeding program to include crossbreds for two reasons. Initially, we
considered it for the sport of long distance riding. The typical limited or long distance mount needs to
have above average recoveries for pulse and respirations. We already had the surefootedness,
soundness, and stamina in our ponies but we needed a faster metabolism for the greater distance work.
We choose the introduction of certain thoroughbred lines to attain a faster recovery without loosing
the strengths in the pony lines. Avelene has the choice of two thoroughbred mares which were bred on
the track for exceptional stamina in distance racing. They are of exceptional lines with calm tractable
dispositions.
The second reason to introduce crossbreds is stature. Currently, the mass of competitive riders in the
United States marks size as a fundamental purchase consideration. Introducing a quality Connemara
Halfbred with height, opens the market that would not typically look to the breed for a competitor. The
rider looking at Connemara Halfbreds is in tune with the difference between riding a horse and riding a
pony crossbred. These crossbreds are exceptionally handy, extremely motivated and athletic with a
"read your mind" disposition. They are the ultimate in Sport Utility. Currently, Avelene has two mares
in the breeding program that offer Halfbreds for the highly competitive rider. These crossbreds excel in
Dressage, Eventing, Fox hunting, Competitive Driving, Hunter and Jumper Circuits as well.
We carefully consider our thoroughbred mares for our breeding program. Their lineage is as important
to us as our purebred mares'. These mares are from proven bloodlines with exceptional performance in
mind. Tractability is also not lost in our crossbreds. The Halfbred foals are just taller than our
purebreds. Occasionally, we offer a cross that includes a warmblood line that we considered at the time.
Breeding is a learning process and our goal is to produce quality foals staying true to the uniqueness of
The Connemara Pony.
