TRAINING
Avelene offers a unique training  program.  We specialize in desensitization and
conditioning responses.  We find that we teach more to the horse when we partner
everyday comforts with the introduction of something new.  In the absence of
fear, a horse is generally open to whatever pleases its' handler.    We take that
aspect and apply it to real life situations like bathing, hand walking, trailering,  and
so on.  Take for example a tarp.  Introduce a tarp alone; unfold it and try to walk
your horse near it!  However, did you know that by simply adding hay to the mix
you can teach your horse that a tarp will provide food?  Take that same tarp back
out in three weeks and watch your horse inspect every fold to see if there is
anything for him to eat...the addition of something so simple can retrain his brain.

Every sport within the equestrian industry benefits from our program.  We do not
teach a particular style of riding.  Instead, we focus on good horsemanship.  We
use our 120x200 outdoor arena as well as miles of trails to school horses here in
training.   Every day includes various experiences to recondition and desensitize.
Horses are introduced to an immense range of objects and situations that build
trust and confidence.

Trail training introduces horses to wooden bridges, ravines, running water, other
livestock, massive farm equipment, dogs, and much more.  Every horse learns the art
of going out in company and solo.  All of these tools enable us to teach horses
confidence, trust, courage, and partnership.  Other benefits range from balance
and strength to scope and rhythm.  Horses of varied equestrian venues have
matured physically as well as mentally in our program.  Then they have gone on to
compete with a renewed sense of self.

Contact us for more information.  Our 2006 program filled very early in spring
and horses stayed until November.  Currently, we are expanding again to
accommodate for new clients in addition to our repeat clients.  Our rates for
training incorporate rough board so horses can live in a social setting.  The farm
is set up for overnight guests for a smooth transition.  So give us a buzz if you
think you would like to give it a try.
